# Explorer: Getting started

Canonical: https://docs.projectbabbage.com/docs/metanet-explorer/getting-started

Install Explorer, set up the wallet, fund through Mountaintops inside the browser and open wallet-enabled websites.

Use **Metanet Explorer 1.2.1** on iOS or Android. These steps were verified against the published version and source on October 26, 2026.

## 1. Install the official app

Choose the [App Store](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/metanet-explorer/id6752445658) or [Google Play](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.metanet.explorer) listing for **Metanet Explorer** by Project Babbage. Check store/device/region requirements there. Keep an existing signed-in installation and its backups until an update or migration is confirmed working.

## 2. Set up your wallet

Open Explorer. Use its wallet setup/sign-in flow for Metanet apps. Keep the supplied mainnet authentication/storage defaults unless you deliberately operate a compatible testnet or custom setup.

For a new account, follow phone verification, password and recovery-key prompts. Save the recovery material somewhere independent of the phone. Existing users should select the existing-account/recovery path rather than accidentally creating a new identity.

If you are recovering, complete any request to save the wallet on this device or finish password recovery before navigating away. See [backups and recovery](https://docs.projectbabbage.com/docs/metanet-client/backup-and-recovery) for the distinct key-access and wallet-data steps.

Ordinary browsing does not itself fund or authorize the wallet. You can explore a website before agreeing to its wallet requests.

## 3. Add BSV

Open **Receive** to find the receiving profile's identity key for compatible wallet-to-wallet payments. An exchange will usually ask for a traditional address instead. In that case, enter **https://mountaintops.net/** in Explorer's address bar and follow [the funding guide](https://docs.projectbabbage.com/docs/metanet-client/funding): **Show My BSV Address → exchange withdrawal → Get Balance → Import Money**.

Use the intended profile and BSV network throughout. A withdrawal reaching the address and its funds being imported into your wallet are separate milestones. A USD display is a currency conversion, not evidence of an in-app fiat purchase.

## 4. Open the app inside Explorer

Enter the app's HTTPS URL in Explorer's address bar. Safari or Chrome on your phone does not automatically connect to Explorer's wallet. If another app opens a link in the wrong browser, copy the intended URL into Explorer.

Use the browser's tab, navigation and menu controls to return to the site. When a site asks for identity, signatures, payments or other wallet capabilities, inspect its permission prompt and decide whether the request matches your task. Keep track of which tab and origin requested it.

On iOS 1.2.1, open Explorer directly; this release does not include system default-browser entitlement support.

## 5. Check payments and protect your data

Use **Send** or **Receive** for wallet payments. Review incoming waiting payments and accept the ones you intend; **Receive All** applies to the waiting list. Transfers between your own Explorer profiles may be received automatically. Confirm the destination balance rather than repeating a send because a notification was absent.

Before moving devices, open **Settings → Wallet data files**, make an encrypted export and save an independent copy. The file does not contain signing keys; keep account recovery material and the archive passphrase separately. If a payment or browser action is interrupted, check its state after reopening before trying again.

For exact payment distinctions, see [payments and profiles](https://docs.projectbabbage.com/docs/metanet-client/payments). For errors, see the [Explorer FAQ](https://docs.projectbabbage.com/docs/metanet-explorer/faq).
