Identity keys and addresses

Metanet apps normally identify recipients with an identity key. This is a public key, not an exchange deposit or withdrawal address. A traditional type-1 BSV address is a different representation used by many exchanges and older wallets. Do not paste an identity key into an exchange's address field.

Mountaintops lets your connected Metanet wallet derive a traditional BSV address and then import funds sent there. The funding walkthrough covers the complete process, including the import step and its public-address privacy tradeoff.

For builders

Use the BRC-100 interface through WalletClient from @bsv/sdk. The same application API can connect through the desktop bridge or Explorer's in-app browser. Users still approve sensitive requests in their wallet. Start with a connection check that does not move funds, then follow the shared wallet guides.

Older tutorials referring to @babbage/metanet-client, the original Metanet client or a browser extension describe other generations of the stack. For new integrations, follow these guides and the maintained TypeScript stack. An old recovery file or account is not automatically compatible with every newer wallet; preserve it and follow migration guidance.
